At MCU, we believe that people are not problems, and solutions are created when couples unite against problems. We can help you improve your communication, emotional connection or heal relationship betrayal. We work with a range of problems facing couples including finances, sexual intimacy, parenting, infidelity, addictions, remarriage, and blending families.
Though each of our therapists are qualified to meet with you individually, at times your therapy may benefit from two sets of eyes, two unique perspectives and two sources of support.
We serve adults and teens facing life's challenges, such as social difficulties, anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, self-esteem issues, infertility, eating disorders, divorce, parenting, health conditions, caring for aging parents, co-dependency, adjusting to empty-nesting, transformation of faith, setting boundaries, betrayal trauma, and myriad other problems that get in the way of living a joyful life.
We help individuals develop tools and strategies to manage the stressors that are weighing them down.
Families come in all shapes and sizes, and our therapists are trained to help families struggling with issues such as divorce, conflict, abuse, neglect, depression, and anxiety, regardless of the age of the family members.
"To understand the world, we [look to] the family. Issues such as power, intimacy, autonomy, trust and communication skills are vital parts underlying how to live in the world. To change the world is to change the family." Virginia Satir
At Marriage and Family Clinic of Utah, we like to provide the unique experience of co-therapy. Though each of our therapists are qualified to meet with you individually, at times your therapy may benefit from two sets of eyes, two unique perspectives and two sources of support.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.
Given the constant news coverage and nearly singular focus on COVID-19, it’s not surprising that many people may be feeling stressed and anxious. Many people with mental health concerns and/or problems in their relationships are now considering using telehealth instead of face-to-face visits. Zoom allow us to safely continue, or start, your care without risk of exposure. Additionally, telehealth allows us to serve people throughout the entire state of Utah. Your therapist can provide more information regarding telehealth sessions.
